For you are saved by grace through faith, and this is not from yourselves; it is God’s gift – not from works, so that no one can boast (Ephesians 2:8–9).
About us
Redeemer Lutheran Church is a multicultural congregation of the Lutheran Church of Australia. We provide a place of worship, fellowship and spiritual growth for Christians who live, work and study on the Northern Beaches of Sydney.
The congregation membership is blessed with dedicated parishioners and a pastor who keep the light of Christ burning on the Northern Beaches.
What we believe
We believe that individuals receive the gift of salvation through faith alone. It means that we are not saved by our good deeds; we are saved 'by grace, for Christ's sake, through faith'.
Saving faith is the knowledge of, acceptance of and trust in the promise of the gospel. Even faith itself is seen as a gift of God, created in the hearts of Christians by the work of the Holy Spirit through the word and baptism.
Then they asked him, 'What must we do to do the works God requires?' Jesus answered, 'The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent' John 6:28–29.
A brief history
Redeemer was formed in 1975 and is the only LCA congregation on the Northern Beaches. The congregation initially shared a pastor with its sister congregation of St Paul’s in Sydney. However, in 1979, Pastor Arpad Breglec, who was ministering to Sydney’s Hungarian congregations and assisting at St Paul’s, accepted the call to serve at Narraweena.
In 1993, the congregation was realigned with St Paul’s and again shared the pastor and administrative duties with St Paul’s.
